The Small Things in Life!

When I went to bed last night a few snow flakes were
floating down from the heavens. This morning we woke
to this winter wonderland.

The snow was wet, deep and very heavy. As my day started,
the power flickered and it got me thinking about the seemingly
'small' things in life that we can easily take for granted.
They include things that many people don't have.
These are things that have helped to make our lives
much easier and much more comfortable.

Power! Electric power can be fickle in these
weather conditions. This morning the lights went out,
and the alarm momentarily sounded and then reset.
No power would mean no heat or coffee! No hot
breakfast! No Fox & Friends! No
computer! Oh my!

No power means no hot water! I've never liked a
cold shower. I love being able to turn on a faucet and
getting hot water for a shower, doing dishes, laundry,
or to simply wash my hands.

Snowplows! Sooner or later, we'll have to get outside
to clear the sidewalk and driveway. Charlie and are so
grateful to have a truck and plow!

Yikes! I just had a flashback to when I was a kid
and 'no school days' were spent shoveling snow to
clear the driveway. We got lots of snow way back
then you know! It was an exhausting job and today
my back just couldn't and wouldn't be able to get
the job done!

While I realize that the cats aren't thinking about
much more than the possibility of a morning
snack, I'm wonder what you're most grateful for
today? I am blessed with my life! I realize that those
small things aren't really so small and that there are
so many things, not mentioned in this posting that
I'm Thankful for!  How about you? Have you said
'Thank You' today to the God that has blessed you
with so much?

We're Celebrating!

Tonight was a night for celebrating!
Kristi's back and Jay's about to celebrate another
birthday! For our group, it was a great reason for lots
of laughs and food! Great food! Fattening food.
And lots and lots of laughs! That's right, a Party!

If you had hoped to actually see Kristi's
face, we're sorry that you're disapoinnted.
I've never seen anyone so talented at
avoiding the camera. She is FAST!
Welcome home Kristi!

While waiting for everyone to arrive,
Peanut, the newest member of the Dyer
family, received a little loving from Mindy.

Unlike last year, when we almost set my living
room on fire, we SURPRISED Jay with one of
Mindy's delicious treats for his upcoming birthday
while not setting off our smoke detector.

Jay is worth every penny that we spent on his Veggie Tales
Birthday card and box of crayons. Happy Birthday Jay!

Even though we laugh and visit a lot, most of our time
together is spent studying! Tonight we started with our
first week on the Lee Strobel series, 'The Case for Christ'.
This looks like it's going to be a very exciting series.
The DVD was really informative and our discussion
animated!

Almost Full Strength

As everyone arrived last night for our
'In Line With The Word' weekly gathering,
laughter and excitement filled the air. Though we see
one another all the time, it's wonderful to be
together as a team. As family!

For anyone who might not be familiar with
our group or our blog, we are a Church home team
and we study and discuss a wide range of Biblical topics.
Some might wonder why busy men and women dedicate
an evening every week to this home team! It's really
quite simple! It's all about growing our relationships,
with God and one another.

It's great having Mike back with us.  His new job was
interfering and he hadn't been able to join us for a few weeks,
so we fixed that by switching our meeting night. Mike you
were missed. Welcome home!

Do you think that even his wife Mindy is thrilled
to have him back with us again? Aren't they
cute together?

Kim got quite a laugh after Melinda found herself trapped
in the bathroom.

WOW! Check out that smile on Laurie! She was so happy
that she could spend the evening with her 'honey' Brian.
It'll be great when Brian's work schedule is back to normal.
We missed you Brian!

Jay was happy to simply have the guys back!

Though my husband Charlie is not an official member
of our team 'yet', I'm grateful that he is such a welcoming host!

Next week we should be back to full strength, when Kristi returns.
We're just happy to get our full team together again.

It's Friday!

It's Friday, so that means it's time for Pizza and 'Game Night'.
What game night would be complete without a gourmet supper?

Laurie stopped and picked up this yummy treat!

Is there anyone on the planet that doesn't enjoy a tasty slice of pizza?

While Kim and Mindy enjoyed a mini vacation in sunny Florida,
Laurie and I represented the team.

Check out these great looking girls.
Don't you think that Melinda looks just like her Mom?

It wouldn't be a 'girl's night without a game. I can't
remember the name of the game but since the box
said that it was suitable for Age8+,I decided
to give it a try.

 Rummy?

There was only one glitch to our evening! Melinda was
under the weather. So she rested and we played.
Now isn't that what girlfriends are for?

Until the next time, we remain
