A Step Closer

Well, day by day, we get a bit closer to getting
our neighbors yard clean- up project completed.
Mark is not an outdoors kind of guy so the yard
has been neglected for a long time. When we started,
no one could have imagined just how much time and
hard work it would take to get even this far!

The rear building featured in the picture above used
to house Mark's 'tumbler' pigeons. Since he hasn't had
any pigeons in a couple of years, it was the perfect time
to tear down this old pigeon coop.

Ted had hoped that this building would fall apart!
It looked pretty flimsy but no such luck!

What a dirty, smelly job! We were blessed to have a
cool day. Imagine trying to do this in a heat!

So the building finally came down and  after most
of the day working at it, Ted is hauling the debris away.

It's been a windy day, too windy to burn brush,
so Charlie and John continued to cut down more
trees and to get brush pulled out and piled ready
to hopefully burn tomorrow.

We plan to get this job done in a couple more days
so that we can finish our own burning. May 1st is the
deadline this year and we are at the mercy of the
weather!

Our neighbor Mark is thrilled. His yard has not
seen an extreme yard makeover in over 40 years!
We are a step closer to getting this job done!

  1. Those pictures definitely tell the story of LOTS of hard work. My goodness, that yard needed a little TLC. I can see the potential! Keep up the great work. It's wonderful what you're doing for your neighbor.

We have a foreclosure on the corner of our street that has apparently been vacant for over a year. It does my heart good to see lots of different neighbors taking turns mowing, picking up sticks and caring for the yard. We went over one evening to start picking up sticks and slowly various neighbors came over to join us. It was actually FUN!
