This posting has nothing at all to do with our home
team! It's just that I had such a good time that I
decided to share a few of my pictures from
my weekend 'Spring Cleaning Adventure'!
I don't know about you but I am always amazed at
how much time and effort spring cleanup involves.
I do a really thorough job in the fall before the cold
and snow make their arrival yet I still spend days
every spring getting the yard raked before I can even
tackle spreading yards of bark mulch or repairing
all of my flower beds.
So, I had already raked and hauled brush for 2 days and
was really sore and tired but then a fun 'toy' arrived
being towed behind a pick-up!
My brother-in-law loves heavy equipment and
this boom lift is his newest toy and we put it to very
good use. We are still working to clear the severe
damage from the ice storm of a couple years ago.
Last year we cut down more than 40 trees, burned
the brush and gave away lots and lots of fire wood.
This year , when David offered to bring over the boom
lift ,we decided that it was an ideal way to
reach some of the 'widow makers' and to get some
much needed tree trimming done.
David invited me to pilot us up and down, so as you
can see, I am listening intently. It was another adventure,
not nearly as scary as the day I took my first solo flight at
Fitchburg Airport or as exciting as the day that I went
up for my first hot air balloon or helicopter ride but it
was really a different experience. Since I don't like
ladders, I was surprised how comfortable I felt.
What fun and it was so easy. Just a couple of
switches and a joy stick and we were able to
reach what otherwise would have involved
lugging big, heavy ladders, lots of climbing
and dangerous working conditions.
I'll always remember this years' Spring Cleaning
Adventure' .
